Develop a software program used in the commercial fishing industry, which runs on Microsoft Windows computers, that records and displays weights received from scales connected to the computer via RS-232 or Ethernet connections. The program supports a variety of different scale manufacturers. Theprogram can be configured to store the weigh transactions in a file(s) and display the weigh transaction on a display board. If the scales have the capability to send an “ID” along with the weight, the program can be configured to use a “Species” file to lookup and translate an “ID” code into a particular species (i.e. salmon, cod, crab, etc.). The program can also be configured to keep a running weight total of the different species. The program also supports Alaska’s department of Fish and Game three digit species codes and descriptions. The program can communicate with several database systems including Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL server and other OLEDB compatible databases. The log file can also be formatted into a Microsoft Excel csv formatted file. The program also supports an external display board or message board, to display the current received weight, running total and species ID.
