Currently my website, insightprep.net, is a log in page that goes to prep-test.net, where my students do their homework. For live meetings, I have a Microsoft Access application that I developed over several years. I put the homework up on the website from that application. The website is a php MySQL site. Now, I want to create another version of the website on which students can do all their work. When they have a question about an explanation, they will ask ChatGPT instead of me, as they now do, for clarification. The website currently has 3 sections: 1. The first shows the explanations that we discussed in our previous live meeting, so that the students can review what we discussed. At the bottom of each explanation in the website, the student clicks a Next button after review, and that records the date/time of that click. 2. The second section is questions for the students to answer, which are of 2 types. One type is new questions that the student hasn’t seen previously and the other type is questions the student has tried to answer but has not yet answered correctly. Currently, those previously missed questions reappear 7 days after the student clicked the Next button in the first section. All the questions are presented in order of difficulty as indicated in a table on the website. 3. The third section, called Review on the menu bar, will pull up explanations to questions that the student has answered correctly. The changes to the current site will be as follows: 1. The first section will be disabled. 2. The second section will be modified as follows: a. The student will be able to select which category of question types to work on from a list of 6 types as indicated in the Category field of the Questions table. b. The questions will consist of new ones that the student hasn’t yet answered, and previously missed ones. The previously missed questions will be presented 7 days after the student answered it the last time. c. Questions will be presented such that, when a student correctly answers a question, the next one presented in that category will be 4 points more difficult as indicated in the Question Levels table, and when a student incorrectly answers a question, the next one presented in that category will be 5 points less difficult as indicated in the same table. d. When a student answers a question incorrectly, the student will immediately see the explanation for that question. The format of the explanations in this second section are the same as in the first (disabled) section. e. When the student sees an explanation, whether in the second or third section, the student will see a button to initiate a question to be submitted to ChatGPT for clarification about the current explanation. The GPT prompt will include the question, the explanation, any graphic file presented in the explanation, and the student’s question. This will be done through an API to a model that enables graphic files to be uploaded and understood.
