Description:
I am looking for a seasoned Magento 2 database and URL management expert to resolve persistent issues with categories, URL formatting, and indexing in my Magento store. Despite extensive cleanup efforts, legacy categories and URLs keep reappearing, leading to indexing problems and incorrect URL formats impacting SEO. This project requires someone with an in-depth understanding of Magento’s database structure, URL rewrite mechanisms, and indexing dependencies.
Important Note:
This is a highly technical project. If you’re looking for a role where you’ll be walked through tasks, this is not for you. I’ve already conducted an intensive cleanup, using advanced SQL commands, resetting indexing dependencies, and verifying changes across multiple tables. I need someone with deep, practical expertise who can diagnose and resolve these issues efficiently—no guesswork, no time-wasting. I value direct, honest expertise and expect high-quality, independent work.
Project Overview:
In my Magento 2 store, outdated categories and URLs persist despite updates and attempts at cleanup. Certain URLs and categories appear in duplicate, incorrect formats, or with “ghost” references that show up in both frontend and backend, even though they’ve been removed from database tables. The scope includes identifying and resolving these legacy issues, ensuring SEO-friendly URLs remain intact, and achieving a complete resolution across the entire site.
Key Objectives:
Identify and Remove Ghost Categories: Locate and delete any hidden or orphaned references to outdated categories and URLs across the database.Ensure SEO-Friendly URLs Stick: Validate that updated URLs appear correctly throughout the store without reverting to old formats.Diagnose Deep-Seated URL Rewrite Issues: Address URL rewrite and caching issues at a structural level within Magento.Optimize URL and Category Structure: Provide guidance on maintaining a clean, optimized URL and category structure in the database.
What I’ve Already Done:
Category Cleanup: Deleted unnecessary categories in catalog_category_entity and associated tables, verifying removals using SQL.SEO-Friendly URL Import: Imported SEO-friendly URLs directly into url_rewrite, confirming the structure matches desired formats.Database Integrity Checks: Executed advanced SQL queries to identify lingering references in tables like catalog_category_entity_varchar, catalog_category_entity_text, url_rewrite, and others.Cache Management: Cleared MySQL and file-based caches, removed /var/cache and /generated contents, and verified reindexing results.Reindexing and Cache Refresh: Reindexed all indexes using CLI (php bin/magento indexer:reindex), cleared all cache types, and verified changes on frontend and backend.Disk and Browser Cache Clearance: Manually cleared all cached data to ensure no old references load.
