Description

Hello,
I please need the programming done for a video golf club tracking and analysis application, which uniquely computes an existing rotation point location along the length of a golf club. Golfers commonly manipulate a club in a manner that creates a rotation point along its length, in essence dividing the club into two sections. Accurately computing the rotation point is critical toward golfing performance, and the point location can vary significantly from golfer to golfer, even for the same golf club.
A 2D video from a single, standard 2D camera is all that is fundamentally required and will be utilized for this application version. The needed video specimen is actually captured before a swing technically even begins, and at first thought it might seem relatively easy to track such club motion. But this may not be the case. Applicable club movements can range from being quite fast and/or abruptly changing directions, to so small and/or subtle that they are nearly impossible to see unless specifically looking for them. Accurately tracking such club movements/positions is critical.
When properly formulated, the tracking process itself will routinely reveal a rotation point location. But an initially calculated rotation point location will typically be erroneous, commonly by a substantial amount. That is primarily due to overall club movement also occurring during the analyzed period. So a solution process then needs to be applied to the tracking results, and with an accurate rotation point location thereafter being provided by the application.
The features and elements needed for both the video tracking and solution processes in order for the application to function successfully are thoroughly described in much more extensive documentation. And I next need a programmer who capably understands the details and is able to program the needed application. Various past attempts, particularly concerning tracking, have been partially successful, although no single attempt was operationally successful all the way through. Those attempts are systematically broken down in the documentation, including furnishing whatever code I have for review and potential use or reuse.
I will be working with and testing any new efforts on my (Windows) desktop, and a desktop version might ultimately be most important for the project as a whole. If successful, however, a web-type version may be implemented as well, and a phone-type version might potentially be sought at some point also. Since it has not been fully successful yet, to some degree I am still seeking a relatively basic version of the needed application that can at least first operate sufficiently all the way through, being as efficient as possible from time and cost standpoints. Things can then be taken from there.
Because various elements of intellectual property are involved, an NDA will be required before I will be able to disclose and/or discuss certain elements surrounding the more detailed documentation noted for any further consideration. I can follow up with the needed NDA after reviewing any responses I might be fortunate enough to receive for this project posting.
I can consider project or hourly rate proposals, but I cannot seriously consider totally open-ended hourly rates and without a maximum number of billed hours stated for completing the project. And I have no set budget. But prominently due to the way previous attempts have gone (on both sides), I will spend little more on any further attempts unless and until a produced application version first functions successfully all the way through. It can then be determined how to best proceed from there. Please feel free to communicate any questions or comments to me. Thank you very much.
