As a Technical Program Manager of Planning and Operations, you will be dedicated to optimizing the intersection between Product, Engineering and Design, translating strategic priorities into tangible delivery roadmaps. We build value for our BetterUp team and leaders by establishing governance, processes and rhythm of business ceremonies, driving trust, visibility, accountability, and ownership. You are responsible for designing and implementing streamlined planning processes using common frameworks and tools that are adopted across all of teams to identify dependencies, secure resources, visualize roadmaps, contextualize OKRs (Objective & Key Results) / KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and effectively deliver committed work quarter over quarter.

What you’ll do:

  • Define, enact, and enforce the organization-wide planning and goal setting processes and governance. 

  • Drive optimizations related to planning Product and Engineering objectives and key results (OKRs). 

  • Define and embed best practices for teams to provide clear visibility into roadmap delivery health and OKR/KPI performance and ensure they are effectively communicated.

  • Identify and mitigate cross-team risks to ensure timely delivery of product roadmap(s). 

  • Surface timelines, budget, and resource needs to meet roadmap goals.

  • Communicate roadmap status and updates to organization stakeholders and leadership teams.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of development processes and best practices.

  • Evolve Agile software development practices to meet the needs of remote-first, highly cross-functional and collaborative teams, grounded in the principles of the Agile manifesto and influenced by various agile frameworks.

  • Drive high quality Jira data standards, coaching stakeholders on Agile best practices.

  • Build effective training and knowledge-sharing materials that enforce and reaffirm planning and reporting processes.

  • Coach and enable teams with processes, best practices, and tooling to achieve sustainable peak performance with the least amount of process necessary.

  • Proactive identify areas of operational improvement across teams, building and automating solutions that are scalable cross-team.


If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • 6+ years recent experience as a Technical Program Manager or a similar role at a technology company.

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Validated experience designing and implementing effective planning processes and operations systems.

  • Self-starter, accustomed to working in a changing environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across organizations, bridge gaps between teams, successfully influence without authority, and have empathy for business stakeholders.

  • Experience around prioritization and continuous optimization. You can discern the urgency and importance of work. You find creative ways to use the full potential of our existing tools, and advocate for novel solutions.

  • Experience building capacity plans, performing data analysis, and influencing senior leaders to make prompt decisions based on said plans and analysis.

  • Excellent soft skills, catered towards a variety of stakeholder functions. You're able to clearly and concisely communicate an idea and its impact.

  • Experience collaborating with Developers, Technical Product Managers, UX Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other team members from broad cross-sections of organizations

  • Understands and participates in the product/tech development lifecycle.

  • Can clearly communicate process and program impact, benefits, and changes to stakeholders to improve knowledge, change attitudes and behaviors and improve the working conditions and quality of life for affected teams.

  • Thinks holistically to find opportunities around policies/ processes to increase efficiency across organizational boundaries.

  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence and Looker or other tools, leveraging data visualization tools to help influence stakeholders.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is $128,000 – $218,000.
