The Sr. Project Manager will maintain, strengthen, and grow relationships with key clients through the management and delivery of medium to large projects concurrently, with limited to no supervision. Must have excellent communication skills and flawless planning capabilities. Responsible for supervising and coordinating the efforts of MarTech teams (Platform engineers, database developers, technical strategists, etc.) and occasionally Strategy, Insights, and Creative to effectively deliver upon contracted deliverables and client expectations. The ideal candidate has extensive previous experience as a project manager in a fast-paced environment, managing and launching MarTech implementations (Email service providers, customer data platforms, database builds, data movement, data analysis, etc.), with keen ability to bridge the gap between big picture strategic thinkers, and technical resources. Experience in a digital agency is a major plus. This role will be mostly working in waterfall & hybrid methodologies and requires acute project planning & scheduling skills. Experience scheduling complex interdependent tasks and resources using a tool like MS Project or Workfront is a must have. This role will report into the Project Director of CRM & Loyalty, and may oversee projects assigned to Project Managers or Project Coordinators to help identify and mitigate roadblocks and risks.
This position can work remotely in the US only near one of our offices (Chicago, STL, Dallas, Detroit, ATL)
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Responsible for managing execution of client engagements, in partnership with the Account Manager or Director, with a focus on quality, budget and schedule in order to both set (ie, plan and scope) and meet (ie, manage) upon contracted requirements
- Active ownership and accountability for all assigned projects through final delivery and client sign-off, meeting all timeline milestones and delivering within the approved budgets
- Monitor all assigned project processes and operations for time and resource efficiencies, cost management, and process improvement opportunities
- Monitor financial, resource and quality health of all assigned projects and recommend course corrections to mitigate issues
- Provide client engagement leadership team regular updates on project health (schedule, scope, quality, budget, and risks). This may include executive level reporting
- Develop and document project parameters including scope, schedule, budgets, specifications; create, update and monitor project schedules and resources for all assigned projects within enterprise project management tool (ie, Workfront)
- Manage all project deliverables and tasks within project management tool (ie, Workfront); Facilitate proper quality assurance testing
- Conduct and lead kick-off and status meetings regularly with internal teams and ensure thorough communication with all stakeholders (internal, client, & third party partners) at all stages of every project
- Communicate project status effectively and identify and inform of perceived risks, both internally and to the client
- Closely monitor budgets, establish plans and processes to avoid and/or resolve scope creep, budget overages, or efficiency issues
- Occasionally work with Client Partnership and Business Development to respond to RFPs and organic growth opportunities; generating proposals and actionable SOWs, estimating work efforts and costs with high-level tasks and milestones, and scoping project approaches that best meet client needs and constraints
- Develop and manage project budgets; assist Client Partnership in accurate revenue forecasting; be accountable for project profitability (mitigating margin erosion); contribute other financial reporting as required by client engagement leadership
- Maintain optimal utilization of internal project team members and help identify when contract or Full time staff augmentation is necessary
- Champion existing processes while also identifying and presenting potential improvements to PMO leadership
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- 5+ years?of project management experience with an interactive agency managing Martech implementations (Email service providers, customer data platforms, database builds, data movement, data analysis, etc.)
- Agency experience a major plus, at minimum ability to keep up in a very fast paced environment and re-prioritize under ever-changing needs and schedules, handling multiple projects at once while meeting tight deadlines and adhering to budgets
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree preferred
- Experience working with MarTech teams (Platform engineers, database developers, technical strategists, etc.), Strategy, Insights, and Creative resources and a thorough understanding of related deliverables and processes
- Moderate to high level of technical aptitude
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - working to keep internal, client, and third-party stakeholders in sync on key project updates and dependencies
- Proven project management skills with an understanding of processes?(timeline & schedule development, task trafficking, risk management, scope change management, etc.) and quality assurance/control (QA/QC) and project acceptance protocols?
- Experience with scheduling complex interdependent tasks and resources using a tool like MS Project or Workfront a must have
- Experience with financial processes for projects - includes forecasting, scoping/estimating, and burn rates
- Team leader with strong interpersonal skills, including problem solving and conflict resolution
- Adaptability; able to refocus team priorities and tasks, delegating effectively
- Experience managing direct reports a plus, but not required
- Excellent analytical skills, strategic thinking, and solution oriented
- Self-motivated with effective decision-making skills
- Demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills; highly detail-oriented
- Strong working knowledge of all current and relevant project management methodologies (ie, Agile, Waterfall, Kanban, etc.)
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Jira, Teams, and/or SharePoint a plus
