The Role
Lumen's Enterprise User Experience Design & Research Team is seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher. The Senior User Experience Designer will plan, conduct, analyze, and report on user-centered design research for our experiences and products.
The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment that requires self-direction, strong problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking paired with effective collaboration and clear communication. This individual will focus on user needs and goals identification, task and workflow modeling, ethnography and persona development, and formal, in-depth usability testing. This individual can juggle a few projects while delivering high-quality work to the team(s) they support. This individual is confident conducting qualitative and quantitative research processes, generating meaningful insights that will inform our designs and products.


This is a fully remote role from anywhere in the US.


The Main Responsibilities

 
Own the research process, including designing, scheduling, and organizing usability studies and other research activities such as observations and in-depth interviewing, diary studies, card sorting, surveys, etc.
 
Collaborate closely with UX Researchers, UX Designers, Developers, Product Managers, and other disciplines to articulate research questions and priorities.
 
Define research methodologies that will provide actionable user insights.


 
Conduct quantitative research studies, assess user behavior, and identify patterns that may lead to design opportunities.
 
Screen/recruit and manage participants before and after each study.
 
Analyze, synthesize, and summarize findings from qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions.
 
Communicate and present clearly and persuasively complex research insights to UX, Development, Product, and executive stakeholders to influence the short and long-term design and product development roadmaps.
 
Collaborate with other UX disciplines to continually develop and improve our products and design process.



What We Look For in a Candidate

 
5+ years conducting tactical and strategic user experience research.
 
Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience.
 
Experience with research tools like UserTesting, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, etc.
 
A portfolio or case study to demonstrate your experience.
 
A deep understanding of design thinking and service design approaches, research frameworks, mapping & modeling, and data visualization techniques.
 
You can identify issues with tested products and prioritize those issues through reporting.
 
You can clearly communicate insights and recommendations to different audiences with varying seniority levels.
 
You possess strong presentation writing and delivery skills.
 
You can manage multiple projects at once and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
 
You have experience with moderated and unmoderated usability testing, UX audits, survey design, and usage of multiple research methods depending on project objectives and constraints.
 
You're familiar and comfortable working within an Agile team using SAFe.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
