Actalent's client is a leader in the design and development of a wide variety of consumer and industrial products and is a global leader in it's industry.

Due to unprecedented growth, the client is looking for a full time, remote PCB Designer.

The PCB Designer will work in Altium to design complex, high speed, high current PCBs. These circuits are used in battery and chargers for a variety of applications.

This company has experienced tremendous growth and the PCB Designer will have the opportunity to join as a permanent, remote employee of the organization if they wish.

Description:

Work with Electrical Engineers to design Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) for AC & DC circuits in new and existing products.

Fulfill component librarian duties including creation of component footprints, generation of schematic symbols, and entry of new parts in the Electronics CAD (ECAD) library.

Electronic schematic capture responsibilities.

Perform PCB layout including: definition of PCBA dimensions based on system design constraints, circuit block arrangement (floor-planning), power and ground plane creation, component placement, and routing of signal nets to minimize cost and maximize design for manufacturability, reliability, thermal management, and test (DFx).

Present PCB designs for Technical Review in compliance with Milwaukee Design Processes.

Create PCB document packages used by manufacturing including assembly drawings, 3D PCBA model files, and Gerber files.

Work closely with PCB vendors to source prototypes from our design files as required.

Support prototype development process with PCBA assembly, re-work/repair, and testing.

Work closely with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to achieve excellence in System Design and Quality.

Participate in the continuous improvement of PCBA development processes and tools

Operate and maintain Electronics Laboratory Equipment and tools relating to development, assembly, and test of PCBA electronics (soldering & re-work, manual/automated assembly, inspection, meters).

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years recent Altium experience
  • Through understanding of Altium's programming language that could develop/verify/deploy custom scripts.

Also, some combination of experience with:

  • Designing with 100 amps or more
  • Experience with high current and/or high speed design
  • Battery and charger design experience
  • Experience with Controlled impedance traces
  • Experience with noise mitigation
