Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the frameworks, capabilities and tools needed to welcome a billion customers. Join us and help to amplify productivity, quality and innovation across Spotify.

Our Cloud Financial Management (FinOps) team is hiring an insights manager and senior data scientist to enhance business value by helping engineering, finance, technology, and procurement teams collaborate to make data-driven decisions. This team is dedicated to keeping public clouds a financially fair space for everyone to build in, and to make value-driven decision-making a bond within Spotify’s technology investment DNA.

In this role you will be hands-on with financial planning and reporting across all of our infrastructure, supporting streaming delivery covering public clouds, content delivery, authentication, as well as large language models. It is a growth opportunity for cloud economics and governance, fitting someone familiar with enterprise planning and curious about how information technology advancements unlock product value.

The work contains technical aspects, exploring hypotheses for how to uncover and use innovative ways driving conversations in the intersection between several existing domains cross-enterprise!

What you'll do

  • Own creation of accurate data, and insights supporting engineering, finance, procurement, and external partners, enabling decisions by framing cloud costs with tailored context and aesthetical visualizations
  • Operate forecasting and reporting for our streaming delivery cost, mainly consisting of cloud billing, crafting a story around variances and trends to facilitate communication with engineering leads and finance partners.
  • Collaborate with our Business Controller to provide communication between engineering and finance around streaming delivery costs (cloud, content delivery, authentications, and other technology costs) providing comments on metrics
  • Contribute to improvements, implementation, integration, and roll-out of Spotify’s analytics tooling, critical metrics, and use of external billing solutions
  • Lead changes end-to-end, defining functional and technical requirements on datasets and analytics support, including doing hands-on configuration and quality assurance
  • Provide front-line support and training to cloud cost analytics users within and outside of the team
  • Collaborate with external vendors to operate and improve cost and billing services and tooling, incl reconciliation across sourcing, consumption, and invoicing

Who you are

  • Deeply passionate about analyses, data science, and optimization
  • Have a demonstrable understanding of Financial Planning, Record-to-Report, and Segregation of Duties
  • Have hands-on experience within cloud financial management, as well as other types of platforms and infrastructure, including how to work with allocations and spend labeling/tagging to increase transparency
  • Outspoken with executive-level management and senior financial and engineering partners, both internally and with vendors
  • Have understanding, and ideally hands-on experience, of tooling used to enable analytics, either/in the shape of SaaS supporting FinOps (such as Cloudability/Apptio, CloudHealth, etc) and/or configuring dashboards and reports platforms (such as Tableau, Looker Studio, BigQuery, etc) to fulfill these needs, but also financial systems (such as Adaptive, NetSuite, Coupa)
  • Value developing the team you are part of, practicing a growth attitude and finding yourself being a go-to person for technical matters.
  • Appreciate working with diverse teams and influencing strategy, tactics, and execution in a playful manner

Where you'll be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.
