Passage is seeking an experienced senior engineer to join our development team and lead our developer experience efforts. You will be responsible for all aspects of our developer experience, including documentation, SDKs, guides, and open source footprint. As a company that is passionate about serving the technical community, we want a leader for our developer experience who will empathize with this community by being extremely technical themselves. The ideal candidate will consider themselves an engineer with a talent for communication and evangelism. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of critical components of the Passage product and have a huge impact on a growing team. You will be a part of our core engineering team and the first engineer dedicated to developer experience.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong hands-on developer who is comfortable with full-stack development and has experience building applications using modern front-end frameworks such as React, Next, Vue, Angular, etc.

  • Is highly technical, can fully understand Passage’s implementation experience, and will advocate for modern authentication.

  • Is empathetic towards developers with a deep understanding of how they learn, build, and adopt new tools.

  • Has a history of creating developer-facing content, including great documentation, guides, and SDKs.

  • Adept at communicating technically complicated topics simply and elegantly.

  • You value ownership and enjoy room to make your own decisions - we’re a small team and trust everyone’s best judgment to keep a fast pace.

What you can expect:

  • Ownership of the developer-facing aspects of the Passage product line, including SDKs, developer documentation, and open source contributions.

  • Space to improve engineering processes and automation and hold yourself and the team to a high standard of quality.

  • Influence the direction of our products by gathering insights from our developer community on how Passage can best meet the needs of developers.

We're composed of people with many different backgrounds, spread over countless time zones, we value having a team that's diverse and inclusive. Our team is dedicated to supporting developers in building passwordless applications, and automation is where we excel. We also strive to do our work asynchronously whenever possible, by writing things down and anticipating hurdles in advance, but if one comes by, we jump on Zoom as needed. This workflow gives us great flexibility and creates an environment of freedom. We can get our work done in the way that best suits us.

Even if you don't tick all those boxes we'd like to hear from you. The most important part of this role is a desire to connect with and solve problems for developers. If you are passionate about connecting with developers, are intellectually curious and solution-oriented, and love trying out new frameworks and technology, we’d love to hear from you.

United States-based roles only: The Annual salary for this role is between $150,000USD and $202,000USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. All employees are owners of 1Password and receive an equity grant as part of their total package. At 1Password, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
