SUMMARY

The Lead cloud engineer is a hands-on role responsible for performance, availability, and scalability of the Businesses Public Cloud environment.

This role will collaborate with Architects and other Engineers to enable enterprise applications to meet (or exceed) the organization business goals /OKR's.

This role will also be also involved in validating emerging technologies for cloud native workload to enable and support the businesses migratory journey to the Cloud.

This role will also act as subject matter expert and mentor other team members as well as act in a consultative capacity with business unit specialists in relation to cloud.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing Microsoft Azure systems; implementing best practices and industry standards.
  • Migrating on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure cloud.
  • Working in an Azure based PaaS & SaaS services environment.
  • Working directly with Azure Infrastructure as a Service (VM's, vNet, Subnets, NSG's, Resource Groups, etc.) deployment.
  • Mentor other team members and act technical subject matter expert in relation to cloud to assist business units as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge in Azure Active Directory, Roles and Policies
  • Knowledge in Azure DNS.
  • Knowledge in IT security
  • Demonstrate strong ability to troubleshoot technical problems and issues
  • Work closely with business unit teams on day-to-day tasks and incidents
  • Knowledge in automation and scripting languages
  • Understanding of Azure storage services Blob, File, Table and Queue
  • Understanding of Azure HPC cluster UGE and Slurm.
  • Experience working with Azure PaaS, Azure networking, and Azure site reliability solutions
  • Strong practical knowledge of Windows and Linux server operating systems (on-premises & IaaS)
  • Mentoring peers and Service Desk on reactive and proactive support tasks, policies and best practices
  • Providing consultative services to business units as well as other teams within the IT organization
  • 5 Years commercial experience in a similar role

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience of AWS and Google Cloud useful
