Our VP Marketing will lead the team responsible for delivering an iconic brand and driving growth across the marketplace. This is a career-defining role, with the ability to help shape the marketing strategy and direction for Apartment List. The VP Marketing will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be a highly strategic member of the company's Leadership Team. As a Virtual First Company, our team can live anywhere they choose.
Marketing owns a broad range of initiatives from brand strategy, demand generation, and growth, to multi-faceted advertising, content, media relations, creative development, product positioning, and programs to support our property partners and renters.
In order to be successful in this role, you are a go-to-market innovator with a track record of successfully defining and implementing marketing strategies in a high-growth and fast-paced company. You are an experienced, strategic, and highly creative individual who can lead and develop several high-impact marketing functions. You would consider yourself autonomous, urgent, and creative. You are hands on, highly analytical about complex, ambiguous challenges and passionate about a rigorous approach to growth.
Here's what you'll do as part of the team:
- Lead, build, and develop a best-in-class team of marketers; design and define their structure, roles, compensation plans, and development
- Define a vision for the brand's role and measurement; ensure it is consistently and fully represented at all touch-points while being an expert visual storyteller for both internal and external audiences
- Develop a communications strategy for specific company objectives and initiatives
- Support building out the content and SEO strategy in an effort to fuel user acquisition
- Own growth targets and budgets for all marketing initiatives for both renter and property audiences
- Direct 360 marketing campaigns, product launches, and seasonal activations at scale while delivering against clear and measurable KPIs
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including finance, to size initiatives and make strategic recommendations on investments
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be successful:
- At least 12 years of diverse marketing experience - including a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles, preferably at a consumer technology company
- Served as a key leader who has holistic marketing experience, including but not limited to brand marketing, product marketing, communications, B2B marketing, content and SEO strategy, social media, demand generation, and performance marketing
- Strong analytical skills and background
- The ability to be a strategic leader who can gather and leverage data to evaluate, act, and iterate
- Demonstrated experience building and developing internal and external communications strategies
- A keen understanding and passion for Brand (Product Marketing, Brand, and Content)
- A knack for growth (Demand, Digital, and B2B acquisition)
- Marketplace experience (a strong plus but not required)
