We are looking for an experienced Content Designer to join our growing, distributed team at Coforma!

As a Content Designer at Coforma, your affinity and passion for language, structure, and storytelling play a central role in bringing to life holistic, user-centered solutions that build, improve, or entirely reimagine experiences of critical services and products for our clients and the people they serve.

Collaborating closely with your research, design, product, and development teammates, you’ll help create experiences, whether services or digital products, that make written, visual, and audio content findable, understandable, usable, and useful by the people who need it, when they need it. The solutions you create will range, from information architecture to content strategy, to user experience, to brand and marketing.

As a Content Designer, you possess strong foundational knowledge and skills in the craft of content design, but at this stage of your career, you’re still building depth and breadth. To this end, you proactively work to strengthen your practice by frequently seeking feedback, pairing with more senior designers, and pursuing professional development opportunities.

What You'll Do

Your primary mandate is to create high-quality content design deliverables for our clients from discovery through optimization while working under the direction of a more senior designer.

You will:

  • Participate in all phases of a project

  • Excavate and deeply understand our clients’ content landscape

  • Develop content strategies that meet business requirements and end-user needs

  • Write and manage engaging, accessible user content that gets people from point A to points B, C, D (and beyond!)

  • Collaborate with researchers, designers, and engineers to give shape and structure to overall experiences for end users as well as those who need to maintain content

  • Create and maintain thoughtful documentation, including copy decks, style guides, decision logs, content governance, and more

  • Create alignment and momentum by communicating your work early and often, in a variety of ways

  • Present your work to clients

You Possess

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, which you use to share information about you and your work effectively and efficiently

  • Experience with and a passion for plain language, usability, and accessibility

  • Working knowledge of and intermediate proficiency in a range of content design skills and activities associated with information architecture, content strategy, content design, and more

  • The ability to channel voice and adapt tone to various audiences, channels, and executions

  • The ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to inform your work and recommendations

  • Familiarity with human-centered design practices

  • A love of collaboration, which you proactively and frequently seek

  • The ability to work with project leadership to define clear solutions that reflect business requirements and user needs

  • The ability to assess and thoughtfully integrate team, stakeholder, and user feedback into your work

  • A dedication to lifelong learning

What You've Done

  • 4+ years experience in a UX writing, content design, or content strategy role, preferably working on a cross- or multi-functional team

  • Well-rounded knowledge of content design principles and techniques

  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong processes, solutions, and a well-rounded knowledge of content design and experience principles and techniques

  • Experience participating in projects from discovery through launch, and working with project leadership to develop and execute end-to-end content design solutions

  • Self-directed, with proven ability to  proactively self-manage, set priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate updates

  • Access to strong, reliable internet for the remote nature of our work

  • Ability to attend occasional in-person meetings on request and with advance notice (with safety precautions)

Other

  • Internet — will prioritize and maintain access to strong, reliable internet for the remote nature of our work (except when on vacation/holiday)

  • Security — will keep the highest security practices to ensure the privacy and security of Coforma and client information given the nature of our work (even when on vacation)

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience working on a remote team or remote freelancing

  • Prior professional services, government, or federal consulting experience

  • Familiarity or experience with software development lifecycle and working in Agile environments

  • Knowledge and experience with GSuite, Slack, and Zoom

$112,000 - $140,000 a year

The annual salary range for this position is $112,000–$140,000/year.

We participate in E-Verify. Upon hire, we will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

This role is required to work from the contiguous United States.
