The Engineering Operations team is responsible for ensuring the Technology team is operating as effectively as possible. In this role, you’ll report to the Director of Engineering Operations and work closely with the Tech EA to plan events that support our team’s engagement and strategy. You are passionate about people and experiences and can easily spot opportunities to create a truly memorable experience and deliver one. You are able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, virtual and in person, and maintain a high level of quality for both. 

You’ll work closely with Sr Leaders in Tech to coordinate the events that align to their engagement strategy, including: Hackathons, All Hands, a team-wide conference, and more. Working with our EA and Engineering Operations Director, you’ll plan the logistics for in person meetups (offsites) for our Sr. Leaders and help build templates for the rest of our leaders to follow when planning their own events. As a part of the Engineering Operations team, you’ll help shape the development and culture of our growing Technology organization.

What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years of event experience

  • Meets timelines and holds themselves and team accountable

  • Demonstrated experience forming strong relationships and working cross-functionally in a remote-first or remote-only environment covering multiple countries and time zones

  • Experience working with Sr. Leaders to drive decision-making and accountability to deadlines

  • Solution-oriented, loves taking on challenges, can work successfully against shifting priorities and thrives in ambiguity

  • Able to follow and support a high level strategy and plan accordingly to execute

  • Exceptional negotiation skills, able to validate costs in the relevant market + finalize the best cost 

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in various formats, experience with working in Slack or similar IM platforms is a plus (Experience with GSuite strongly preferred)

  • Solid program / project management skills that you can flex to pitch in on other projects when needed 

  • Experience executing on the tasks associated with producing team events 

  • Positive attitude and understands the importance of of assuming positive intent 

What you can expect:

  • Help plan events that support the Tech Engagement Strategy (Hackathons, All Hands, Internal Conference, Tech Talks and more); a mix of in-person and virtual.

  • Build & Maintain a “Guide to Planning Offsites” for Tech

  • As a part of the Operations team, sometimes you’ll flex to support other internal initiatives, depending on workload/need (i.e. covering PTO, slow event season, etc.)

  • Weekly check-ins to make sure all projects and priorities are aligned, and to problem solve roadblocks 

Alongside the Tech EA, assist with planning and executing offsites for the Tech Leader Team (VPs); including:

  • Sourcing group accommodations and meeting space 

  • Negotiating contracts, working within a budget

  • Working with venues to plan details such as timing and F&B choices

  • Booking reservations for meals and activities 

United States-based roles only: The Annual salary for this role is between $95,000USD and $129,000USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. All employees are owners of 1Password and receive an equity grant as part of their total package.
