Interested in helping us drive Spotify’s developer portal philosophy and enterprise adoption?  We in Spotify’s Backstage team are looking for a Staff Sales Engineer with a right balance of technical knowledge, eye for business, and interpersonal skills to help customers see the value of developer portal software to their business.

Join a nimble, startup-like team of engineers, marketers, business developers, and product managers to drive an entirely new technology-focused business line and distribution channel. We’re seeking versatile engineers skilled in technical sales, web development and customer interaction who feel energised to help realise Backstage’s enormous potential.

Your daily work is flexible, and you can expect a broad and developing role in which the combination of technical knowledge and ability to drive change and shape client opportunities is central.

What you'll do

  • Connect with prospects & customers (running demos, sharing roadmaps, answering general questions)

  • Create and articulate compelling value propositions around Backstage based products

  • Driving prospects down the sales funnel

  • Partner with marketing, developer relations and business development to grow the Backstage footprint

  • Handle numerous accounts concurrently and strategically

  • Accelerate customer adoption through sales engagements

  • Work with external partners to extend reach and drive adoption

  • When necessary, get hands on and dig in to help address customer issues alongside Customer Success Engineering and Core Engineering

  • Develop a deep understanding of customer concerns, share insights when metrics and anecdotes may differ

  • Leverage knowledge of customers’ needs to assist Product and Engineering teams in better serving your customers

Who you are

  • The ideal candidate will possess both a sales and technical background that allows them to strategically engage at the C-level as well as with software developers and IT architects

  • A self-starter who is prepared to plan and execute against a rapidly evolving landscape

  • Excellent communicator able to concisely explain technical solutions and tricky issues

  • Quick learner with a strong interest for technology

  • Proficient in web development with React, TypeScript and Node under their tool-belt

  • Organised to manage numerous projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail and deliver results across multiple initiatives such as driving expansion, customer happiness, feature adoption, and retention

  • Prior experience working for a technology startup or experience helping customers build cloud based solutions would be a plus

  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.

  • Working hours? We operate within the Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration and ask that all be located in these time zones.
